This Hands collection marks a pivotal iteration in my journey as a maker. Originating during my degree, my work began with an exploration of human connection, manifesting first as a series of sculptural drinking goblets. After graduating, I felt a pull toward the intimacy of jewellery, translating those large-scale concepts into wearable forms.
Using a combination of sheet silver and wirework, I developed these hands pieces to capture the quiet gestures of love and compassion. By focusing on the “bond” as a physical design element, I created eye-catching, unusual forms that bridge the gap between fine art and functional adornment. You can see the links between my silversmithing pieces and this jewellery collection, but I feel this jewellery is more personal than the silversmithing as the wearer connects with it more.
While these pieces are no longer available, they remain the essential foundation of my identity as a silversmith today.
